Begin to Win Agility / Steeplechase Rules

  • Competition will be held in the indoor arena so no chance of dogs escaping.
  • Agility classes will include contact equipment.
  • A steeplechase is a flowing course of jumps and tunnels only.
  • Contact equipment will be at low heights.
  • There will be no weaves or seesaw in any course.
  • Dogs will jump the height lower than what they would be KC measured for.
  • A silent toy may be carried in the arena.
  • Dogs must run to course off lead to count for the placings, but may run on lead NFC.
  • One handler per dog only.
  • Each dog will get 2 runs at each course.
  • There will be a course time for each run, will be announced in judges briefing.
  • Wait for the time keeper to be ready before you start your run.
  • Training rounds are permitted within the course time.
  • If eliminated you may continue with the course but must leave the arena once the course time is up.
  • These classes are a competition for dogs that do not normally compete (inc. monthly club Friday night comps).

Marking

  • Refusals will be ignored.
  • Missed contacts will incur 5 faults.
  • Fallen poles will incur 5 faults.
  • Wrong course will result in elimination
  • Back jumping will be counted as a wrong course so will result in elimination.
  • Fouling in the arena will result in elimination.
  • If your do jumps the 1st jump before you are ready the clock will be started and you are in comptetition. Restarting will result in wrong course.
  • Fastest time with least faults will win.
  • Small and medium dogs and standard and large dogs will be grouped together for placings but all dogs should jump the height correct for them according to the above rules.
  • Clear rounds will be rewarded with a rosette.

Points will go towards a season league table and awards given at the end of the season.

The Kennel Club
